Andrew & Walter Young Family Y - Community Engagement Board Volunteer - 2025-2026

Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA

One of our main priorities of the Y-2025 Strategic Plan, People are the Why, focuses on connecting Y staff, volunteers, and members with opportunities and experiences for individuals to create positive change in our community. Certainly, the time you spend as a board member is a vital and important part of meeting this priority. All Board meetings and committee meetings will be entered into Volunteer Matters so that we may track your engagement and service. As part of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta’s commitment to the safety and well-being of children, teens, and vulnerable adults, we are working toward Praesidium Accreditation by October 31, 2025—a rigorous certification confirming we meet the highest standards for abuse prevention. Community Engagement Board Members are considered Low Access Volunteers under Praesidium Standards, meaning you volunteer regularly with the Y and may interact with youth, but always under the direct supervision of Y staff. To meet accreditation requirements, all Board Members must complete Youth & Teen Safety Onboarding by August 31, 2025. This onboarding includes four required steps: Volunteer Waiver Youth & Teen Safety Policy acknowledgment Background Check Youth & Teen Safety Training (E-learning) As a Low Access Volunteer and Board Member, you will be required to complete these Youth & Teen Safety Onboarding tasks every 2 years. Completing these steps is essential to achieving accreditation and reinforcing the Y’s culture of safety. Thank you for your commitment to making the YMCA a safe, supportive place for all.
