The Cool Kids Tutoring Club is a weekly volunteer program designed to support children ages 6–12 with academic success and confidence building. Volunteers will assist students with homework completion, reading comprehension, and basic math skills in a small-group or one-on-one setting. Sessions take place every Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The goal of this program is to provide consistent academic support, positive mentorship, and encouragement in a safe and structured environment. Program Area: Youth Development / Academic Support / Social-Emotional Learning Purpose: The Mentorship & Tutoring Support Program connects caring, committed volunteers with youth who benefit from academic assistance, enrichment, and positive relationships. Volunteers provide consistent support in reading, math, homework help, and/or mentoring to help participants build confidence, develop critical skills, and reach their full potential. Overview: This project supports youth in a structured learning environment where volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups. The focus is on improving academic outcomes, strengthening social-emotional skills, and fostering healthy, supportive relationships. YMCA staff provide training, orientation, and ongoing guidance to ensure volunteers feel prepared and valued. Key Program Goals: Improve academic skills in core subject areas Support students in building self-confidence and motivation Provide positive role models and safe, encouraging relationships Strengthen life skills such as goal setting, problem-solving, and persistence Create equitable learning experiences for students who may benefit from additional support Impact: Volunteers play a meaningful role in expanding learning opportunities and helping youth discover what they are capable of. By giving their time, volunteers help strengthen community connections and support the YMCA’s commitment to closing opportunity gaps.
